Serbia is the destination with the second largest growth of the number of overnight stays and arrivals by foreign tourists in Europe in 2018, while at the same time recording the biggest increase in the number of Chinese tourists and taking first place compared to other travel destinations, with the growth exceeding 100%, according to a report by the European Travel Commission (ETC), the Tourism Organization of Serbia (TOS) announced.
The ETC analysis says that the reasons for the growth of the number of foreign tourists by 15% are the visa-free arrangement of Serbia and China and intensive online campaigns.
The TOS points out that, during these campaigns, the audience following the organization’s social network profiles increased several times, whereas the video content promoting Serbia’s tourism offer has a million views.
As the TOS says in its press release, active promotion in the Chinese market is continuing. Presentation at the COTTM fair in Beijing is scheduled for April 15-17.
The TOS will take part in the fair together with the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, in order to present the joint tourism offers of the two countries, as most Chinese tourists who come over as part of organized tours want to visit most of the region as well.
The number of overnight stays by Chinese tourists continues to grow. In the first two months of 2019, it was 54% higher than in the same period in 2018, the TOS announced.
