Delhaize Group, Belgian food retailer, has recorded global revenues of 21.4 billion EUR in 2014, an increase by 3.7 percent compared to the previous year, states the company’s official press release.

The Group achieved the highest sales growth of 6.6 percent in the United States. Moreover, its revenues in the South East Europe region were up by 4.3 percent due to successful performances in Greece in Romania. In the fourth quarter of 2014, Delhaize Group recorded a total of 5.8 billion EUR in revenues, an 11.4 percent increase versus the same period last year.

Based on preliminary figures, the company expects to have achieved a total net profit of 739 million EUR in 2014, excluding the 53rd week in the United States.

Frans Muller, President and CEO of Delhaize Group, stated: “Last year we have made substantial progress in a number of areas. In 2015, we will seek to accelerate growth in selected markets, whilst being disciplined with respect to operating costs.”

At present, Delhaize Group operates more than 3.460 stores in seven countries on three continents, employing over 152.500 people. Within the South East Europe region, the retailer is currently present in Serbia, Romania and Greece.
