{"id":1471,"date":"2015-11-18T16:48:29","date_gmt":"2015-11-18T16:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poseidon-gp.com\/property\/?p=1471"},"modified":"2015-11-18T16:48:29","modified_gmt":"2015-11-18T16:48:29","slug":"city-of-londons-tallest-skyscraper-yet-planned-for-abandoned-pinnacle-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poseidon-gp.com\/property\/city-of-londons-tallest-skyscraper-yet-planned-for-abandoned-pinnacle-site\/","title":{"rendered":"City of London&#8217;s tallest skyscraper yet planned for abandoned Pinnacle site"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>City planners have backed a 61-storey tower for the abandoned site in Bishopsgate<\/h2>\n<div class=\"firstPar\">\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/finance\/property\/11719195\/Revealed-Secret-plans-to-build-Londons-next-mega-tower.html\" target=\"_blank\">new skyscraper<\/a> is due to be built in the City of London, and it&#8217;s going to be even taller than the Gherkin and the Heron tower.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"secondPar\">\n<p>The building will be 61 storeys tall and constructed on the site of the abandoned Pinnacle project.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fourthPar\">\n<p>Under the original plans, The Pinnacle &#8211; also known as the Helter Skelter &#8211; was to become the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/art\/architecture\/11473387\/The-skyscraper-that-does-not-cast-a-shadow.html\" target=\"_blank\">second-tallest building<\/a> in both the United Kingdom and the European Union, after The Shard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fifthPar\">\n<p>However, construction came to end four years ago when the recession hit and funding dried up.<\/p>\n<p>The new skyscraper at 22 Bishopsgate will overshadow the nearby Heron Tower by some 150ft, rising to an impressive 912ft (278m) and housing offices and leisure space, including restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Although it will be the City of London&#8217;s tallest building, it&#8217;ll be eclipsed by the Shard on the South Bank, which is the tallest building in Western Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The City of London\u2019s planning and transportation committee gave the project the green light today and work is expected to begin early next year and finish in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Property investor AXA IM &#8211; Real Assets and Lipton Rogers announced this June that they were going ahead with the project.<\/p>\n<p>Anne Kavanagh, global head of asset management and transactions at AXA, said the building will provide a \u201chigh quality and environmentally friendly working environment for over 12,000 people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The building will be 10 metres shorter than the Pinnacle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>City planners have backed a 61-storey tower for the abandoned site in Bishopsgate A new skyscraper is due to be built in the City of London, and it&#8217;s going to be even taller than the Gherkin and the Heron tower.
