Two and a half years after emerging from bankruptcy, Croatian non-food retailer Pevec is getting closer to its plans to reach a HRK 1.0 bln turnover this year.<\/p>\n
On February 23 the company opened a 9,600 sq. m sales center on the basis of a former Getro store in Novi Zagreb and will open its biggest retail center in the country, with an area of more than 15,000 sq. m, in place of the former Baumax store in Zagreb\u2019s Jankomir neighborhood on February 26.<\/p>\n
These are only two of the planned openings for 2015. With the departure of Baumax, Bricostore and OBI from the Croatian market and divestment of Agrokor stores after taking over Mercator, from whom Pevec rented six Getro buildings, the company is now determined to grab the opportunity for establishing a stronger market position.<\/p>\n
The company will open two other stores in the first half of 2013, in Dubrovnik, and Zagreb\u2019s Crnomerac district, which will bringing the total number of Pevec centers in Croatia to 18.<\/p>\n
Despite last year\u2019s decline in purchasing power in the country, Pevec ended 2014 with sales of nearly HRK 870 mln, a 20 pct increase compared to 2013, and forecasts more revenue growth this year.<\/p>\n
