Ikea, the leading Swedish furniture retailer, has recorded a 3.33 billion EUR net profit in fiscal 2014, an increase by 0.4 percent compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n
The company increased its sales within all existing markets, its total revenues amounting to 29.3 billion EUR. As stated by its representatives, Ikea\u2019s fastest growing markets were China, Russia and Hungary.<\/p>\n
At present, the Swedish retailer operates 315 stores in 27 countries. The majority of its retail network is located in Europe, whilst its biggest single markets are Germany, the United States and France. In fiscal year 2014, IKEA stores attracted 716 million visitors worldwide, up by 4.7 percent versus last year.<\/p>\n
The chain has announced plans to achieve revenues of 50 billion EUR by 2020 by conducting rapid expansion across emerging markets and broadening its online presence. In August 2014, Ikea opened its first store in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb, which is expected to attract large number of visitors form the neighboring Balkan countries. Within the South East Europe region, the Swedish giant is also present in Romania and Bulgaria with single unit. Moreover, Ikea is currently seeking locations for the construction of its first store in Ljubljana, Slovenia.<\/p>\n
